Student Support

Student (Academic) Support Division

Objective

The Student (Academic) Support Division is dedicated to exploring and implementing a revitalized academic support offering for accountancy students across various SAICA-accredited universities. The academic success, especially in rigorous programmes like SAICA accredited programmes, can be achieved through robust academic support programmes.

Philosophy and Inspiration

Drawing inspiration from the Founding Director, Sitembele, who attributes his success as a chartered accountant to a strong academic support programme that levelled the playing field, the division advocates for providing comprehensive academic support. This approach aims to bridge gaps between students from diverse educational backgrounds, ensuring equitable opportunities for success.

The division offers training and workshops to SAICA-accredited universities, focusing on the provision of Academic Support Programmes tailored for the digital age student. The emphasis is on leveraging technological tools to enhance student engagement, both among students themselves and between students and their lecturers

Technological Tools Integration:

  • Incorporating innovative technological tools to facilitate interactive learning, collaboration, and communication within the SAICA accredited academic programmes.

Student Engagement Strategies:

  • Developing strategies that promote active engagement among students and encourage meaningful interactions with their lecturers.

Training Programmes for Departments:

  • Providing departments with the knowledge and skills needed to design and implement effective academic support programmes in alignment with the digital age student.

The division firmly believes that universities can differentiate their accounting offerings by investing in and delivering strong academic support programmes. This not only contributes to the success of individual students but also enhances the overall reputation and competitiveness of the accounting programmes offered by SAICA-accredited universities.

The desired outcome of the Student (Academic) Support Division is to create a conducive learning environment where students receive the necessary support to excel academically. By embracing technological tools and fostering student engagement, the division aims to empower universities to stand out in providing exceptional academic support for their accounting programmes.

In summary, the division’s focus on academic support is driven by the belief that investing in students through effective programmes will not only ensure their success but will also elevate the standing of SAICA-accredited universities in the field of accounting education.

Academic support for digital age student

The academic support for digital age student workshop is a practical workshop that is on offer to all academic programmes. The workshop seeks to equip accounting departments with e-tools that can be used to improve academic support provided to a digital age student. The specific e-tools academics are trained on are Microsoft Bookings and Microsoft Viva Engage for student consultation and engagement respectively. These tools help improve student support available for digital age students who enjoy working in their own spaces and embrace technology.

Success of this workshop is evidenced by increased student consultation statistics and engagement.
